Join FAST Blackfeet and Sukapi Lodge Mental Health Center for a hands-on evening centered around chokecherries, a traditional Blackfeet food source.
Participants will learn about the different ways chokecherries have been processed and used, including crushing the fruit into patties and juicing them for later use. Together, we’ll work with chokecherries from harvest to preparation and finish the evening by cooking bison chokecherry sloppy joes.
This class is an opportunity to spend time with a food that has long been part of Blackfeet foodways, learn through hands-on practice, and share knowledge around how chokecherries can be gathered, processed, preserved, and brought into meals today.
Date: Thursday, September 10th | Time: 5 pm | Location: Sukapi Lodge Mental Health Center
